Laser Model Information article

OEM vs. Keyswitch
All Synrad lasers are available in OEM configurations, which are designated by an “S” after the model number (for example, 48-1SAL or FSTi60SFC). OEM lasers do not include a keyswitch, shutter, or reset module and are intended solely for incorporation into equipment providing these safety features. As manufactured, OEM lasers do not meet the requirements of 21 CFR, Subchapter J or EN 60825-1 without additional safeguards.

Keyswitch versions of most Synrad lasers are also available and are designated by a “K” after the model number (for example, 48-1KAL or FSTi60KFC). Keyswitch lasers include an on/off Keyswitch, a shutter, and reset module and so comply with 21 CFR, Subchapter J and EN 60825-1. Check with a Synrad Sales representative to confirm which laser models are currently offered in this configuration. There is no price difference between OEM and keyswitch models.

Model Number Designations
The last three characters in the model number serve to designate the functional category, cooling method, and laser version. The functional category is indicated by either a “K” for Keyswitch or “S” (Switch-less) for OEM models. The next letter indicates the cooling method: “A” for air-cooled lasers (where the customer must provide the proper cooling via fans or blowers), “F” for fan-cooled units (where fans and fan shroud are factory-installed), and “W” for water-cooled units (where the customer must provide chilled water). The last letter in the model number indicates the current model version beginning with “B”. For example, the model number FSTi60KFC designates that particular Firestar ti60 laser as a Keyswitch, fan-cooled model. FSV30SAE indicates an OEM, air-cooled v30 laser

Laser Models

Because all Firestar f-Series lasers are water-cooled only, the “W” is omitted. For example, FSF100KD indicates an f100 Keyswitch model while FSF201SC designates an OEM f201 laser.

Model Availability
The table below lists current laser series and models. Because new models are frequently added within a series, check with a Synrad Sales representative for up-to-date availability.
